1. Usability Specialist

Reporting to the Digital Director the Digital Development Specialist will work with external developers to build a custom content management, managing the CMS and all external web and new media communications vehicles. The Digital Development Specialist will be responsible for:

Design & Production

  • Design, develop, test and implementation of website content and applications.
  • Website strategy, planning, conversion goals and web analytics.
  • Day-to-day maintenance of the websites.
  • Production of online campaign materials.
  • Develop/maintain microsites, serve as an online specialist.
  • Site positioning through third-party search engines and other directories.
  • Manage resources, schedules and budget.


  • Develop/oversee internet solutions, web development activities and application builds.
  • Navigational structure, web architecture, feature set, functionality, and content requirements for new websites.
  • Develop specification and design framework for project scoping.
  • Research/evaluate new internet technologies and capabilities, and new application technologies and capabilities for iOS, BlackBerry and Andriod.
  • Implement search engine optimization strategies and optimize browser rankings.
  • Monitor and analyze web traffic flow.
  • Create custom applications and content for Facebook and other social networks.

Content Management, Website Administrator, App Development

  • Implement content management system solutions.
  • Optimize processes for content management, develop routines or programs in-house or recommending third party programming resources.
  • Work with the Director, and the Information Technology departments to implement/deliver new online and application functionality.
  • Work with external vendors on the development and launch of applications for the iOS, Andriod and BlackBerry suite of products.

Design and Interface

  • Plan, create and produce web and application layouts and graphics.
  • Oversee the creation of web graphics, as well as enhance and edit for web posting.
  • Work within the global brand and around clear event-focused marketing goals, and enforce corporate brand and style standards so that each event to has a unique aesthetic.
  • Create online multimedia presentations, including various formats of video and audio software.
  • Prepare/maintain corporate graphic standards, manuals and templates.

Information Architecture and User Experience

  • Create scalable content structures.
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility legislation.
  • Liaise between content editors/owners and the development team.
  • Recommend/develop web functionality.
  • Produce web assets (web pages, PDFs, infographics, screens and other communications) using quality design standards, and web best practices to ensure high usability benchmark.

Project Management

  • Facilitate the content and technical objectives for assigned web projects, including: scheduling and scoping of website design; functional requirements; definition of programming requirements, design, implementation, QA and then go-live.
  • Research and push forward team’s ideas for development of the web and social media sites.
  • Manage page changes and customization to Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and other social sites.
